Position Summary

 

Responsible for maintaining the process of manufacturing equipment by analyzing, adjusting and troubleshooting.  Also assists in coordinating the activities of the molding department, including program set up, efficiencies, reporting, data analysis and effective working relationship to improve operations. Perform work involving basic maintenance and mechanical skills to keep machines, mechanical equipment in repair.

 

Primary Functions

  • Champion safety, communication and sanitation regulations for molding department.
  • Assist supervisor with the coordination of operations and activities within the molding department, including planning and assigning work schedules and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards, including EPS press molding program setup and efficiencies.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs. 
  • Compile daily production reports and average MPM data, including the monthly dash board.
  • Observes plant safety rules.  Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern.  Assists in monitoring of quality of work output and maintenance procedures and 5S program.
  • Supports Continuous Improvement environment.
  • Assists in conducting operations so as to meet established cost standards for use of materials, supplies and equipment.  Follows instructions in the most efficient use of tools, machines and materials.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly working area and assists other departments in the cleanliness and organization of working areas when projects overlap other department areas.
  • Responsible for reporting any problems or concerns to their direct Supervisor.  To maintain good working relations with all other employees.  Strives to have no conflicts with other department employees.
  • Encouraged to bring any ideas to light for possible usage in factory functions.

  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.

  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

 

 

Education and Experience

Education

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

 

Experience/Knowledge

General knowledge of equipment and machine processes and general maintenance.

2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

 

Technical Role Competencies:

  • Machine Management — Setups after maintenance, adjust for moisture, steam and cycle times. Technical competency in using numerical and computer machine control systems.
  • Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine machine setup, troubleshooting and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Bringing machines back to “Ready to run part” status after mold changes and maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Equipment Selection — Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents

  •  Requires up to 10 hours of standing/walking daily.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 15 lbs
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend/stoop/twist, crouch/squat, reach above and below shoulders.
  • Requires repetitive use of arm, wrist, and hand.
  • Must be able to work near/with machinery and hand tools.
  • Moderate/heavy exposure to heat and cool temperatures and excessive noise.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including hearing protection, safety glasses and steel/composite toe shoes.
  • Some overtime and occasional weekends may be required.
