General Overview:

The Lead Quantitative Analyst will design and develop reports and analyze data to measure clinical and financial outcomes. This role will investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and health care costs data. Specifically, the Lead Quantitative Analyst will work closely with clinical and business leaders to drive trending and operational analytics for population identification, program need, and emerging risk. The successful candidate will employ subject matter expertise to provide insights to relevant stakeholders using advanced statistical methods to measure and evaluate current and future health plan initiatives. Additionally, this role will conduct statistical analyses to measure and address financial and quality improvements and outcomes, perform modeling and analysis of health care costs, utilization, and outcomes; and collaborate with other departments to advance business objectives and research studies.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Leverage advanced analytical knowledge to drive the development of analytical solutions and implement data-driven recommendations and outcomes.

  • Work closely with customers in determining analytic needs and present and interpret outcomes of statistical analyses to customers.

  • Develop analytics plans including determining types of data needed, optimal study design, and appropriate statistical analyses.

  • Work with complex healthcare claims and clinical data, recognize patterns and potential issues within the data and make recommendations based upon the analysis of the data.

  • Develop sophisticated data products (visualizations, models, insights, etc.) for business users.

  • Perform statistical analyses to determine effectiveness of clinical programs.

  • Provide consultative advice and interpret and summarize analytical findings.

  • Leverage existing and ad-hoc reporting capabilities to identify trends in health plan performance and opportunities for medical expense reduction and improvement in the quality and cost of care.

  • Perform data extraction, aggregation, and quality checking from multiple sources and tables in the support of trend identification, root cause analysis, program evaluation, population identification, quality improvement, and validation/measurement of medical expense reduction initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree with 3 years of work experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years work experience in Biostatistics, Public Health, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Quantitative Social Sciences, Statistics, or Data Sciences.

  • Minimum of 3 years SAS, R, Python, or other relevant statistical programming experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years SQL programming language experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in health care data analytics including experience with claims data, pharmaceutical data, EHR data, clinical research, etc.Experience with Health Plan quality metrics (HEDIS, QARR, PDI, PQI, CMS Stars, etc.), episode groupers, and risk adjustment methodologies highly preferred.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and proficient in other MS Office tools such as PowerPoint and Power BI.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as work effectively as a member of a team.

  • Highly skilled in verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with attention to details and deadlines in a high volume environment.

  • Proven ability to build relationships with business and technical partners to improve customer service and continuously improve project delivery.

  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work well under pressure.
