As a Linux System Engineer, you are responsible for developing and maintaining corporate Linux infrastructure technology. This will require strong communication, execution and analytical abilities. You will work independently and receive minimal guidance. This position is expected to interact with cross-functional teams including Systems, Database, Software Engineering, Operations, Audit and Risk, and various groups within Technology.



  • Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service
  • Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs
  • Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
  • Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
  • Proactively monitoring system performance and capacity planning
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
  • Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks
  • Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
  • Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes
  • Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, security, and availability of Systems infrastructure based on business requirements and adhering to security, and procedural models
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise to support complex Linux Systems under minimal supervision
  • Operate in complex, highly-secure, highly-available, operations-centric datacenter environments and interact with other technology domain experts as required
  • Document and thoroughly understand the application architecture, system configuration across platforms and interface with various systems and use this knowledge effectively to resolve issues
  • Provide assistance as required in analyzing the trends and suggesting long-term and short-term improvements
  • Provide automation solutions of manual tasks performed by infrastructure support
  • Support the development and incorporation of best practices and approaches into the company's processes and methodologies 


  • Minimum of 3 Years of Unix/Linux Systems Administration experience and relevant technologies
  • Experience working with Debian/Ubuntu
  • File system knowledge and service manipulation
  • Practical Bash scripting
  • Strength in scripting against Unix/Linux/VMWare/Docker: Shell, Python, Perl
  • Experience Administrating open source software
  • Implementing OS-level security controls (command/process auditing, strong knowledge of file-level access control, other misc. security tools)
  • Experience in system monitoring tools and performance analysis tools
  • Experience working in large, complex, enterprise datacenter environments
  • Individual should be self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Sound planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to coordinate activities within cross-divisional and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong inter-personal skills
  • Preferred education and experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
    • Experience managing Apache Kafka
    • Experience managing Redis Server
    • Expertise in Virtualization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Containers
    • Centralized administration/configuration management experience with Ansible
    • Experience in Redundant technologies, Fault tolerance and storage technologies
    • Ability to write technical design and build documentation for all aspects of Unix/Linux Infrastructure
    • Strong ability to self-learn new Unix/Linux technologies is a plus
  • Preferred certifications:
    • Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator
    • Linux Foundation Certified Engineer
    • CompTIA Linux+
