VSE Corporation is seeking four Maintenance Mechanics Leads/Quality Control Inspectors for our III MEF Contractor Maintenance Support Contract located in Okinawa, Japan to perform the following duties:

The incumbent will be required to lead a team of qualified Maintenance Mechanics in the repair and maintenance of III MEF Operational Equipment located at III MEF facilities on Okinawa, Japan. This includes Camp Kinser, Camp Foster, Camp Courtney, Camp Hansen and Camp Schwab. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned equipment. Ensure that Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance is completed on all III MEF equipment as assigned to the contractor by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Apply technical knowledge of USMC equipment to determine equipment malfunctions for Corrective Maintenance and ensure that all Preventive Maintenance checks are completed.


  • Manage all aspects of daily activity at assigned sites to include: interface with customers and other Government representatives

  • Identifies and communicates repair/replacement parts to the Government using the Parts Requirement Form

  • Maintains Equipment Work Log and Scheduling of site PM and CM by mechanics

  • Ensures quality craftsmanship and correctly completed task; and performs initial, in-process and final inspections.

  • Handles any non-conforming findings. Provides technical oversight of PM and CM task and performs PM and CM tasks.

  • Assist the Site Supervisor in coordinating schedules.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent or be a recent graduate of military, commercial or vocational automotive mechanical school.

  • Must be able to obtain a tactical vehicle license.

  • Must have a verifiable four years as a Maintenance Mechanic with experience in managing a small size maintenance operation

  • Must possess the physical ability to perform the job while standing for long periods of time, lift 50 lbs. and carry 40lbs..

  • Must perform assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment with customers, engineers and other personnel to complete the task.

  • Must be able to read and understand Technical Manuals for assigned vehicles.

  • Must be an effective communicator to maintain continuous liaison with supported activities.

  • Must be able to travel on short notice.

  • Must have the ability to spend short periods of time in austere field conditions.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Ability to speak, read and write perfect English.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Former USMC Maintenance Mechanic with some supervisory experience.

  • Background in USMC Motor Transport Maintainer.

  • Background in USMC and DOD equipment desired.

  • Highly knowledgeable of power tools, special tools, equipment and common tools required to make repairs.

  • Be organized and maintain a proficient schedule.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
