Kitchen Open Hours: 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm 
 
Shift hours vary between 7:00 am - 3:00 pm or 11:00 am - 7:00 pm 

Nature and Scope: 
This position is critical to ensure that all sanitation requirements for our kitchen are met and a safe and professional culinary experience is had by our patients, families and staff. 

Major Accountabilities: 
• Completion of any daily tasks as assigned by the Chef or Sous Chef. 
• Ensures that all surfaces in the kitchen environment, to include the kitchen, dining and catering areas and all associated equipment, are clean and sanitized. 
• Washes dishes and maintains overall area cleanliness to meet all Food Code requirements. 
• Sweeps, mops, cleans and sanitizes floors and equipment daily. 
• Maintains order and organization to the dish room, kitchen and dining areas. 
• Assists the Chef or Sous Chef with food preparation activities such as chopping, peeling, washing as directed. 
• Assists other kitchen staff with proper food and supply dating, labeling and stocking, as requested. 
• Ensure attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts so that patient care can remain a top priority. 
• Completes all assignments from Learning and Development and review of policies and procedures within assigned time-frames. 
• Maintain appropriate, therapeutic boundaries with patients and families at all times including adherence to HIPPA compliance. 
• All other duties as assigned by direct or indirect management. 

Specific Skills: 
• Strong understanding of sanitation and safety requirements in a hospital kitchen, preferred 
• Ability to follow instructions exactly as relayed 
• Dependable and detail oriented 
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with peers, manager, patients and families 
• Exercises good judgement regarding interpersonal interactions with peers, manager, patients and families at all times 
• Basic knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and other basic office software, preferred 
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization and with patients and families. 
• “Can Do” mentality that collaborates with others, removes barriers to efficiency and success and inspires others to achieve 
• Bi-lingual in English/Spanish, preferred.

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
• Demonstrates competency and sensitivity in the area of multi-cultural, racial, religious/spiritual, gender identity and sexual orientation issues. 
• Meets dress code standards; appearance is professional, neat, and clean.

• Wears identification while on duty.

• Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. 
• Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.
