Community Center Director
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Red Shield Club/ Community Center Director for The Salvation Army of Henderson, NC.
Job Summary
Directs, supervises, monitors, and evaluates the overall operation, finances, and direction of the Red Shield Club/ Community Center under the supervision of the Corps Officer and the Advisory Council; provides leadership and overall direction to the Community Center in fulfilling its youth development mission; establishes and maintains the quality of Board members assuring representation of the community leadership necessary to provide direction and leadership and secure the necessary resources; institutes a strategic planning process containing clear and specific goals which are easily communicated; works with the Board in attaining the financial resources necessary to carry out the organization’s plan; conducts public relations and marketing functions ensuring a favorable image in the community; selects, supervises and evaluates the work of all Club staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget development and administration. Knowledge of the principles and practices of program and financial development. Knowledge of the principles and practices of strategic planning. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations. Ability to effectively select, recruit, led and supervise staff, Board members and volunteers. Ability to administer an annual budget and monitor expenditures and funding to ensure compliance with the same. Ability to secure financial and non-financial resources necessary to meet the goals of the strategic plans. Ability to represent The Salvation Army n a professional manner and to conduct public speaking engagements in order to promote the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.
Ability to build positive and professional relationships with community leaders, Board of Director members, and volunteers.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Services, Child Development or a related field, OR five years progressively responsible experience administering social service programs preferably targeted to child development with at least three years in a supervisory capacity, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations and analysis needed for budget administration.
