Job Summary:

 

Recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of employee and volunteer bell ringers ensuring ample staff to meet location needs; prepares records and reports regarding the same.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Recruit, screens, prepare hire packet, conduct bell ringer orientations and supervise bell ringers.
  • Coordinate delivery of kettle equipment to and from kettle sites.
  • Ensure that all kettle locations are being manned. Coordinate all paid workers. Schedule and notify kettle workers. Work directly with Volunteer Coordinator on scheduling.
  • Check that all bell ringers are clean and presentable.
  • Report any scheduled kettle absences/unattended to the Operations Director.
  • Keep accurate time sheets on all paid kettle workers. Report time worked to designated individual for payroll.
  • Conduct periodical site checks throughout the day to ensure that bell ringers are working.
  • Coordinate with Operations Director on all disciplinary problems.
  • Assist with daily counting of monies as needed.
  • Secure monies at all times.
  • Transport monies to bank for deposit as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Safe From Harm guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively with kettle workers and volunteers; Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision while enforcing established policies & procedures; Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports; Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers and staff; Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers and staff; Ability to maintain volunteer and financial database; Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and calmly in order to deal with situations that may arise at the kettle stands; Ability to read, write and communicate the English language; Ability to use/operate general office equipment. Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices; Knowledge of the streets and how to maneuver to/from kettle locations; Knowledge of basic recordkeeping practices and procedures.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

Education and Experience:

High School or G.E.D. and one year experience working with kettle fund raising programs preferred (not required) or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.

Ability to operate a cash register, perform routine mathematical computations and count change.

Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.

Duties are usually performed standing.  Standing may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.

Moderate physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying light to moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) frequently.

Working Conditions:

 

Work is performed in and out of the office and in a wide variety of weather conditions. Dressing appropriately is important for remaining safe and comfortable.
