YOUR ROLE: 

As Progressive AE expands its industrial work, we are seeking an Industrial Practice Leader to join our Charlotte, NC office. As the Industrial Practice Leader, you will lead the growth of the industrial practice in business development, sales, project oversight, client relationsfinancial management, and staff development with a focus in the industrial market. This includes creating strategies to expand the market while executing highly effective and extensive outbound efforts to develop relationships with existing and new clients that will lead to new business.   

WHAT YOU WILL DO: 

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for the growth of the industrial practice area that differentiates Progressive AE in the market. Develop and execute a multi-year business plan and achieve the goals identified in the plan.
  • In collaboration with the Industrial Practice Leader in the Grand Rapids office, establish cross-office strategies to lead the industrial practice areas' business development initiatives and negotiations, and successfully close deals.
  • Identify new business opportunities while developing current client relationships. Listen for and seek out new projects which may exist or are being formulated.
  • Provide senior client leadership and project oversight as appropriate, including:
    • Displaying an excellent understanding of the client’s business drivers, capital planning process, and key performance measures as evidenced by the proven ability to be a strong internal client advocate and strategic business partner.
    • Displaying advanced skills at building value by tactfully opening client’s perspective to unseen risks, missed opportunities, and/or alternative creative ideas and concepts.
    • Demonstrating advanced consultative skills.
  • Establish yourself as a thought leader and subject matter expert in the industrial practice area. Maintain an external position through national speaking engagements and Strategic Insight initiatives, including publications promoting expertise and innovation in industrial environments.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You are a registered architect and have at least 15 years of experience in areas of design or planning. Possession of your MBA or MA is a plus.
  • You're a recognized leader in architecture and the industrial market.
    • You have outstanding client references in the Carolinas region and a proven track record of identifying leads, building a network, developing strategies, and winning work in the Carolinas region. A proven track record of establishing national client relationships is a plus. You are comfortable interacting at the highest executive levels within industrial organizations.
    • Your project portfolio is impressive, with completed projects in the Carolinas region that are relevant to your expertise and include a broad spectrum of strategically important and recognized projects in the industrial market. Your project expertise will help broaden Progressive AE's market differentiation and penetration through a portfolio that plays to Progressive AE's strengths and capabilities.
    • You know the industrial market in the Carolinas region well. You have a history of national speaking engagements and publications. You're organized, have strong relationship skills, and are sought out for your communication and presentation skills.
