Oceanit is seeking a Senior Scientist/Biomedical Engineer to provide scientific and technical expertise in the biotechnology arena for new systems development, implementation, refinement, and related activities, which will ensure high quality in execution and conformance to client contracts. The incumbent will utilize advanced scientific theory and practices and system engineering methodology in the technical leadership of projects and research and will work as a member of cross-functional development team to generate innovative ideas and solutions for Oceanit projects and strategies for business growth.

 

THE VALUE YOU DELIVER:

 

Technical

  • Aptamer experience required.
  • Uses scientific and engineering principles to develop new materials, processes, technologies and new products in line with the growth strategy of the company. Interface with customers, research technical literature, plan and conduct experiments, and lead the activities of junior-level scientists/engineers.
  • Develops theories and hypotheses on basis of observation and experiments, and devises methods to apply hypotheses and theories of biology to fields related to projects or future business development
  • Reports observations and conclusions and recommends improvements or new project development
  • Devises, designs, and integrates procedures for biological testing of materials and equipment
  • Conducts theoretical analyses to determine feasibility of projects.
  • Designs, develops, fabricates, and test medical devices. 

 

Management

  • Manages projects - plans, develops, directs, coordinates and exercises control over resources and personnel for assigned projects, ensuring that adequate and appropriate resources are assigned and remain within budget allocations
  • Ensures progress is being accomplished toward specific project objectives and modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect and attain or exceed objectives
  • Ensures that project/customer quality objectives are met
  • Assists in managing various development/prototyping programs. This involves customer interface, planning and scheduling, identifying and purchasing of raw materials
  • Provides technical leadership in directing and coaching the technical activities and employees with less experience or as assigned.

Other

  • Identifies key technologies and industry trends. Identifies and prepares business/proposal development initiatives
  • Respond to government solicitations that are in line with the company’s strategy, to secure funding for R&D activities.
  • Represents Oceanit to the government and clients, to the local community and public at large, at industry meetings, conferences, and educational symposia
  • Publishes and presents articles of scientific merit to government, industry, and the public
  • Participates in team effort to develop innovative ideas and to bring those ideas to market
  • Provides support to new business development activities.  

THE EXPERTISE WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Energetic and inquisitive, with a natural curiosity and hunger for learning.
  • Interest in emerging fields of molecular biology, including CRISPR, molecular engineering, use of and development of advanced tools, collaboration with different disciplines, including physics, optics, artificial intelligence.
  • Team player, collaborative, self-motivated, results oriented, fast learner who can grasp the essence and can change course quickly where indicated.
  • Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Physics or related field required.
  • 5 years of comprehensive experience in laboratory research activities.
  • Supervisory experience leading collaborative teams preferred.
  • Understanding, experience and superior dependability to comply with standard laboratory protocols with attention to detail and accuracy of procedures Capability of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and competently articulate technical system design and trade information to a wide range of audiences, required.
