Outpatient Therapists

We are seeking full-time licensed Outpatient Therapists in the Newport News, VA area to provide assessments and treatment to children and adolescents with identified mental health or substance abuse diagnoses in a school-base setting. Therapists must be willing to consult with other mental health professionals and school staff (teachers, school counselors, administration, etc.) in order to provide effective courses of treatment so that we may improve our patients’ quality of life. Special attributes must include; strong writing skills and above and beyond customer service.  Paneled with insurance companies preferred. 


  • Manages a small caseload of clients, providing services on an intensive basis and utilizing short-term, solution focused treatment strategies
  • Case management and care coordination required to include: attendance at school-based MH meetings, and regular communication with school personnel, teachers, and school counselors, other duties as assigned (For school-based program)
  • Prepares written diagnostic assessments, assessing clients from multiple perspectives, including family functioning, psychological/emotional, social, academic, medical, behavioral, substance abuse, skills, strengths, barriers to economic self-sufficiency, treatment history, and others, and utilizing various assessment instruments
  • Facilitates wraparound team meetings to enlist existing supports in determining and meeting service objectives and to identify additional resources and supports
  • Prepares written service plan, incorporating input from clients, involved service providers, and wraparound team members, and clearly identifying problem areas and needs, strategies, and service objectives
  • Responds to crisis situations with twenty-four hour a day availability
  • Attends court hearings when families are court-involved and presents testimony and treatment recommendations as requested by attorneys, referral source, the court, or clients 


  • Master’s degree in human service-related field
  • Must be licensed as one of the following: LPC, LCSW, LMFT
  • 2 years of experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents, and/or adults
