WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS POSITION:

You will be responsible for the design and strategic planning of the network and voice communications architecture including hardware and virtualized components in the data center and cloud providers.  Research and implement technology solutions that increase productivity and provide better service to internal and external customers.  Evaluate vendor technologies and solutions for implementation in an enterprise IT environment.
 

You will be responsible for the design and strategic planning of the network and voice communications architecture including hardware and virtualized components in the data center and cloud providers.  Research and implement technology solutions that increase productivity and provide better service to internal and external customers.  Evaluate vendor technologies and solutions for implementation in an enterprise IT environment.


You will configure, install, maintain, and upgrade server applications and hardware. Monitor, maintain and optimize the network and telecommunications infrastructure, monitoring systems and related security platforms.  Manage vendors to ensure that service level, capacity and cost effectiveness of services are met.  Provide 24x7 support for the IT Infrastructure.

You will serve as project manager for medium to large inter-departmental projects.

You will evaluate and recommend networking product and software upgrades. Install, configure and test network and telecommunications services including hardware and software components, vendor services and related applications.  Troubleshoot, resolve and document complex network and telecommunications technical and performance issues. 


You will be responsible for the creation and adherence of network and telecommunications architecture standards, procedures and policies.

You will provide technical leadership and mentoring of team members, internal and external customers.


WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE ROLE:

A bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in a network administration role in a corporate environment,

In lieu of degree, additional work experience and/or trade school or applicable certifications required.

In depth knowledge of network, telecommunications and related technologies.  

             Cisco enterprise data center architecture

             Advanced LAN/WAN network design and configuration utilizing protocols such as TCP/IP, VSS, vPC, OSPF, BGP and QoS

             Network Virtualization utilizing VMware NSX

             Public and Private Cloud solutions for infrastructure and applications including software coding skills used for network deployments

             Firewalls and Application Load Balancers

             Network Management technologies and applications

             Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) enterprise deployments

             Telecommunications carrier services including connectivity via multiple Internet Service Providers


Expert level problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Advanced project management skills.  Ability to work independently, with little direction.  Mentor and train team members, internal and external customers.  Develop plans for the implementation of network and telecommunications hardware, software and application platforms.  Strong presentation skills, ability to prepare and provide presentations to management, internal and external customers.  Strong financial budgeting and cost analysis skills.  Provide 24x7 support for the IT Infrastructure as required.


WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A MORE VIABLE CANDIDATE:

One or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, MIS, Computer Science or related field
  • Certifications: 
  • CCNP Enterprise (Routing & Switching)
  • VMware VCP-DCV (Data Center), 
  • VCP-NV (Network Virtualization / NSX)
  • Cloud Architect (AWS, Azure or Cisco) 
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
