Summary

This position will perform a variety of duties including Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) responses, fire prevention, as well as aircraft service and fueling, emergency medical support, inspections of airfield and buildings, quality control of fuel farm/trucks, landscaping, and other aviation-related support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements Airfield safety procedures by ensuring safe takeoff and landing of aircraft, coordinates dispatching, utilizes airfield landing and navigational aids.
  • Coordinates communication between air traffic control and maintenance personnel while providing airport advisory services
  • Conducts daily, monthly, and yearly inspections of airfield operations including quality control, safety inspections on aviation fuel and fuel farm, vehicle equipment, the proximity of gear, SCBA, and ARFF equipment
  • Keeps accurate and complete records of reports and inspections
  • Participates in training to maintain knowledge of the airport emergency plan
  • Acts as a liaison for matters that involve Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting training
  • Maintains certification requirements with the Texas Commission for live burns, Emergency Medical Technician, ARFF, and the Structural Firefighter
  • Responds to all emergency and non-emergency situations which may include aircraft fires, structural fires, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials
  • Follows the city policies, procedures and safety guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Combination of experience, certifications, education, and/or training that would produce the knowledge/abilities required to perform the essential duties

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • TCFP Basic Structural Firefighter
  • DSHS or National Registry EMT-B
  • Shall acquire and maintain TCFP ARFF certification within the first year of employment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • National Incident Management Certification 100, 200, 700, 800 (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in firefighting and/or aircraft refueling
  • NATA Line Service Training
