Battery Swapper (Part Time)
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the Capital Bikeshare service, Motivate will launch an e-bike program with battery powered pedal-assist bicycles added to the system. The Hardware Technician will be part of a team dedicated to working on these e-bike efforts. They will be primarily responsible for operating transit vans or SUVs, and replacing batteries on e-bikes in the field. As part of this position, the seasonal Hardware Technician will receive basic training on e-bike operations. This position will report directly to the Bike Fleet Manager.. For now this position is classified as a temporary role, but we expect the e-bike pilot to continue past the current planned end date.
Key Aspects of Position:
Use computer software to track inventory of e-bike batteries, and record battery changes in the field.
Follow GPS-based directions and drive to locations of e-bikes needing battery swaps.
Follow safe work practices and adhere to all workplace policies.
Test e-bike functionality and performing basic diagnostic testing and troubleshooting.
Maintain clear and consistent communications with dispatch using provided phone/radio/GPS unit interface.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record required.
Comfortable driving, stopping and working in busy outdoor urban environments.
Knowledge of the DC region geography/street layout.
Dependability, including the ability to be at work on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance
Must be able to work up to 10-hour shifts, with one weekend day
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; stoop, bend, and stand for long periods of time.
Must have great customer service, communication and interpersonal skill
Ability to work as part of a tight knit team.
