Bicycle sharing is a sustainable, healthy, and community-based transport option that enhances urban livability and mobility. Capital Bikeshare currently operates with over 500 stations and 4500 bikes in Washington, DC, the City of Alexandria, VA, Arlington County, VA, Fairfax County, VA, Montgomery County, MD and Prince George’s County, MD, with system expansion planned in all jurisdictions.

 

Through contracts with the Washington DC Department of Transportation (DDOT), the City of Alexandria, VA, Arlington County, VA, Fairfax County, VA, Montgomery County, MD, and Prince George’s County, MD, Motivate International, Inc. is responsible for all “on the ground” aspects of Capital Bikeshare, including but not limited to: station and bike building and deployment, station and bike repair and maintenance, and bicycle redistribution.

Overview Of Position:


As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the Capital Bikeshare service, Motivate will launch an e-bike program with battery-powered pedal-assist bicycles added to the system.  The Lead Battery Swapper will be part of a team dedicated to working on these e-bike efforts. They will be primarily responsible for two aspects of the operation: dispatching/assigning work to battery swappers on the clock and operating transit vans, sprinters or SUVs and replacing batteries on e-bikes in the field.  As part of this position, the Lead Battery Swapper will receive basic training on e-bike operations and station technology, service delivery dispatching, and battery swapping dispatching. This position will report directly to the Service Delivery Manager.




Key Aspects of Position (Lead Battery Swapper)

  • Cover Service Delivery Dispatch as needed/scheduled

  • Create and distribute assignments to the Battery Swappers on your shift

  • Rotate batteries on/off the chargers once charging sequence is completed

  • Prepare batteries for upcoming shifts and keep inventory of batteries organized

  • Perform checks to ensure battery swap records were accurate

  • Help battery swappers load vehicles

  • Check vehicles in and out of the warehouse ensuring appropriate damage logs are kept

  • Create shift reports based on the activity that occurred on your shift

  • Be the main point of contact for all battery swappers in the field

  • Create and assign Asset Recovery tickets and manage their workflows

  • Provide accurate feedback to management about current state of operations

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Experience:


  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record required.

  • Comfortable driving, stopping and working in busy outdoor urban environments.

  • A strong tech-savviness and comfort learning new computer systems

  • Knowledge of the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region geography/street layout.

  • Dependability, including the ability to be at work on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.

  • Must be able to work up to 10-hour shifts, weekends day, and potentially overnight

  • Ability to lift over 70 pounds; stoop, bend, and stand for long periods of time.

  • Must have great customer service, communication, and interpersonal skill

  • Ability to work as part of a tight-knit team.

  • Ability to follow the specific standard operating procedure

  • Interpersonal skills – maintain confidentiality; remain open to others' ideas; demonstrate patience and willingness to try new things
