Liberty Resources is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team!  This position has the flexibility to be a Remote Work position.

Position Summary:


The Senior Accountant performs general and advanced level accounting and financial analysis duties requiring sound judgment in the application of accounting procedures.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Finance department in creating timely and accurate financial statements, administer billing and special financial projects as assigned by the Director of Financial Reporting.
  • Performs accounting functions for all program and agency processes and compiles financial data.
  • Performs general ledger balance sheet reconciliation and assigned functions to complete the monthly closure of the general ledger. Reconciles payroll system to General Ledger and follows up adjustments as needed.
  • Creates finance-related reports as needed/requested by executives utilizing appropriate report writer.
  • Assists with the consolidated fiscal report (CFR) and quarterly reports including preparation of supporting documentation. Assists with preparations for the Annual Audit.
  • Prepares information reports and analysis utilizing spreadsheet software for management and Board of Director review; including consolidation of program data, for actual and projected revenues and expenditures.
  • Reviews all documents and data for accuracy, adhering to generally accepted accounting procedures and compliance with procedures contained in the agency accounting manual.
  • Acts as a resource to the accounting clerks for questions. Reviews all work for accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
  • Prepares debt schedules as they relate to property acquisition, program development, and financing.
  • Establish fixed assets and maintain subsidiary ledger. Responsible for coordination of physical inventory process, processing of all sold or retired assets, and calculation of monthly depreciation.
  • Monitors client fee receivables, interfaces with Divisional Directors and local departments of social services to ensure timely collection of claims. Understands funding methodologies, reporting requirements and payment parameters for all funding sources.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with employees, consumers and coworkers to promote a quality service image.
  • Carries out agency policies and procedures while participating in daily routine of the agency.
  • Maintains effective professional relationships with other service providers and community organizations in the interest of clients and program goals.  
  • Attends and participates in individual supervisory conferences, staff meetings, training sessions, special projects and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Handles emergency situations that may require flexibility of time and area of assignment.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and four (4) years of accounting-related experience, preferably in a fund and/or not-for profit sector, or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of well-defined accounting office practices and procedures.
  • Must be proficient in Accounting database systems, report writing, word-processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation.
