Tulsa World Media Company is starting a new weather initiative and looking for a Meteorologist to help build something new in a competitive market. Our meteorologist will make forecasts, write stories, produce videos, create graphics and inform readers on weather, climate and other environmental events in an area known for extreme weather.
This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, producing accurate weather forecasts for the newspaper and website, monitoring and covering local weather and environmental news, writing stories for print and online about weather, producing weather forecast and weather related videos, contributing to social media and representing Tulsa World publicly.
The ideal candidate should be able to find unique story angles, create compelling videos and engaging on social media to help the Tulsa World's coverage stand out from the competition. We are not looking to replicate what other sources do, but instead help the community be informed on weather, climate and the environment in thoughtful and innovative ways.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology and previous experience as a meteorologist and storm chaser is preferred. Must be able to work well on deadline and handle breaking weather-related news online and on live video. A valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record is required.
