This position manages the day to day activity of the Capacity Solutions team within Landstar’s Operations division. Capacity Solutions’ purpose is to ensure Landstar maintains an industry leading capacity sourcing program. This team is responsible for providing support to Landstar independent agents & capacity network through connectivity assistance, promoting the integrity of available loads & trucks and facilitating a robust carrier management program. A successful candidate will be a forward thinker, that is inquisitive, easily adapts to change, and fosters an environment of teamwork and empowerment. He/she must also demonstrate the ability to maintain high productivity standards while ensuring accountability.


·Facilitate management of external load boards; to include B2B integrations between Landstar and external vendors

·Maintain integrity of Landstar load offerings to ensure quality data is presented and communicated to end users

·Manage staff notifications of owner operator random drug and alcohol testing for the department, to remain compliant with federal regulations

·Approve revenue adjustments for agents and/or owner operators, up to $3,000

·Support capacity sourcing needs for specific accounts, agents or projects, as requested

·Assist truckload operations in emergency relief, charities, and other non-standard business

·Support peak business by planning staffing needs and facilitating communication; requires ability to accommodate extended “on call” hours

·Function as liaison between IT and operational staff on all key projects

·Monitor, complete, and make regular recommendations on departmental goals and KPIs

·Propose process improvement changes to senior management

·Provide data driven analysis & reporting to senior management, on weekly & monthly basis

·Provide backup and support to other departments as required

·Represent the company at industry events and promote networking relationships, as needed

  • Basic knowledge of software development lifecycle principles (tech savvy)

  • Ability to be on-call 24/7 in case of emergency
  • Bi-lingual helpful, but not required


Manages subordinate Supervisor who supervises 10-15 Capacity Solutions Coordinators. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


High school diploma or GED, required; some college preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, employees and general public. Ability to read, write, and speak English.
