The Senior Production lead is responsible for leading employees in achieving expected safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost targets for the team. This role will serve as the designee to the Department Supervisor and will fill in as Acting Supervisor in his/her absence. A Sr. Lead will be able to perform all the below Essential Functions of the Team Lead role and in addition will be responsible to: Perform all Team Member transactional duties to include Pay Hour verification, Daily Attendance record, disciplinary corrective action development and administration (with HR Support), Shift Metric Charts, attending meetings and reporting out on all department activities, participation on 8D’s and countermeasure exercises and lean initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

Maintain a safe work environment, and respond to identified safety or environmental risks with urgency

Keep the work area neat and organized, including but not limited to tools, work space, inventory storage, and paperwork

Maintain work skills to facilitate job performance as a working member of the team, and to be aware of the required skills for team members

Direct the work of production employees

Train employees on required job functions

Assign work to each employee to maintain high productivity and skill levels

Establish quality standards to ensure customers are satisfied with the final product

Manage the work schedule to achieve delivery requirements to both internal and external customers

Serve as the team coach: recognize employees who perform well and counsel those who underperform

Strive for continuous improvement

Master Lean tools applicable to the area being managed, including but not limited to standard work, 5S, and error-proofing

Notify other employees when a problem is discovered and help determine the root cause to prevent future occurrence

Participate in and support Kaizen events and other improvement activities

Responsible for tracking key metrics

Keep daily boards up-to-date for all required reporting items

Complete necessary labor reporting, including but not limited to employee evaluations and time and attendance

Complete required reporting for safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and labor

Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications & Requirements:


High School diploma or GED preferred and at least 5 years of experience in field related to the work being manager

Associate Degree preferred


3-8 years manufacturing experience within machine shop / weld line, with leadership experience

Punch & Press Brake operating and maintenance experience (3-8 years)

Lean and 5S experience within a weld and fabrication environment (3-8 years)

Certification /License:

Preferred CWI experience or extensive weld knowledge in lieu of

Skills and Abilities:

MS Office require, proficient in Excel with demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping preferred

Effective oral and written communication; excellent interpersonal skills

Excellent organizational skills to include problem solving / root cause analysis

Extensive weld, CNC Machine, and maintenance knowledge- operating, trouble shooting, and repairing equipment (strong mechanic aptitude)

The ability to collaborate with a multi-department team

Ability to read and interpret blue prints

Supervisory responsibilities: The Senior Production Team Lead would oversee Production Leads and team members of the weld and fabrication department.

Work environment:

Manufacturing Environment, non-temperature controlled

Ability to walk, sit, stand, stoop, bend, kneel through entire shift, 8-10 hours daily

Occasional work inside office environment

Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE)
