Compliance Specialist II
The Compliance Specialist will assist the Regulatory Affairs and Compliance Director in overseeing Inogen's intake and customer support functions and will work closely with Inogen Sales, Billing, and Customer Care teams. Primary responsibilities include: managing and supervising completion of Compliance audits (for internal controls), assisting with external audits of items such as patient records and company procedures relating to Home Medical Equipment (HME) operations and practices, advancing training initiatives and programs for Sales, Billing, and Customer Care teams, and facilitating continuous process improvements.
Responsibilities (Specific tasks, duties, essential functions of the job)
Responsible for fully understanding regulatory requirements relevant to respiratory equipment and supplies and home medical equipment provider accreditation
Responsible for assisting in audits of intake through patient support practices
Responsible for reviewing documentation, including but not limited to, dispensing and/or detailed written orders, medical records, and Certificates of Medical Necessity (CMN) to determine if eligibility (per public and private payers) has been properly demonstrated/ supported
Responsible for sharing findings identified during internal audits with the Compliance Department to develop and assist with formulating corrective actions/ resolutions
Responsible for assisting the Compliance Department in responding to external audit requests associated with HME operations/ practices
Ensure Inogen’s compliance with all state and federal regulations
Ensure that documentation is maintained in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and other applicable regulations
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Assist with any other duties as assigned.
Responsible for working to isolate areas of potential non-compliance, for helping transfer this knowledge to the service teams and introduce process improvements
Responsible for providing training to the Sales, Billing, and Customer Care teams on procedures and regulatory requirements related to HME, as needed
Responsible for managing assigned staff and contracted consultants to ensure individuals are operating effectively
Responsible for working with the Sales, Billing, and Customer Care teams (as appropriate) in response to findings pertaining to external audits and facilitating corrective action resolution
Responsible for developing, interpreting and administering company compliance policies
Responsible for tracking, reporting, and improving departmental metrics
Responsible for working with the Sales and Billing teams to ensure that onboarding requirements for patients are and remain robust and comprehensive
Responsible for working with Customer Care and Billing teams to ensure that patient support protocols are and remain robust and comprehensive
Responsible for investigating and responding (or supporting the development of a response) to external complaints pertaining to HME operations/ practices
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with performing compliance audits
Experience with HME accreditation
Experience with Medicare billing
Experience with respiratory equipment and supplies
Experience with working with medical sales personnel and managing external consultants
Detail-oriented with attention to process improvement
Ability to work in multiple computer software systems
Must have strong work ethic.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Qualifications (Experience and Education)
Operates at a task + project level for select projects which are specifically assigned to them.
Able to execute tasks and project level work independently, able to sign off for Regulatory/QMS in some instances, as is deemed appropriate
Some supervision required.
Bachelor’s in a Technical Discipline, required.
3- 5 years of HME experience.
A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
