Aquatics - Aquatics Associate Intern - Jordan & Fishers YMCA's
This is a district position, serving the staffing needs of the Jordan and Fishers YMCAs. Candidates will work at both YMCA locations based on each center's staffing needs.
Must be lifeguard certified to apply.
Under the direction of the assigned Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Associate is responsible for providing a safe environment for all participants in and around the pool and providing challenging classes according to the YMCA Association and safety guidelines. This includes responding to emergencies and administering CPR and First Aid effectively (according to American Heart Association and the YMCA of the USA certifications). The Aquatics Associate will function in the following capacities as needed association-wide: Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Water Fitness Instructor, Swim Coach.
Must possess and maintain current YMCA Lifeguard certificate, American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate or Ellis and Associates Lifeguard certificate, including First Aid, CPR, Oxygen
Healthcare Provider certifications and YSLI.
Requires a high school diploma, or its equivalent, must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum 2-3 years experience demonstrating the ability to work with others and meet program expectations and deadlines.
Attain and keep all certifications current in area of instruction.
Must be able to pass Lifeguard Swim Test set by YMCA Lifeguard certification (including 200 swim, demonstration of breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, surface dive, and treading water). This also covers the Swim Instructor swim test (100 yd swim with demonstration of breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, surface dive and treading water).
Must possess and have the ability to relate to and communicate with people of all ages, cultures, and abilities.
Must be able to work as a team member and possess the core values that meet the YMCA mission.
Additional current certifications Safety and Risk Management and Child Abuse Prevention.
