Senior Network Engineer
Located in Malibu, California, HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.
The Network Engineer shall install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot wired and wireless network architectures. This includes routers, switches, VPN, IDS/IPS, wireless access points and controllers, firewalls and other supporting devices and software used for monitoring, data collection, and network security.
The Network Engineer ensures that the LAN/WAN is capable of providing required services by supporting the network infrastructure in a production environment. Provides daily operational support for LAN/WAN networks, including firewalls and VoIP systems. Plans, installs and supports hardware and software upgrades. Resolves technical issues associated with network and routing protocols at all levels of the OSI model through the use of diagnostics and network administration tools such as SolarWinds and Aerohive Hive Manager. Responsible for maintaining LAN – WAN barrier systems to prevent unauthorized access to systems. Uses diagnostic utilities to identify and isolate problems, gather latency statistics and find specific network bottlenecks, evaluate problems and implement fix actions through device reconfiguration or replacement depending on the circumstances. This position works closely with multiple organizations and teams in the company. The ideal candidate should have good interpersonal skills and be able to manage multiple projects happening at the same time.
•7+ years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting wired and wireless networks
•Experience with Cisco ACI
•Experience with Cisco ISE
•Knowledge of OPSF, BGP, QOS
•Experience with WAN in multi-site networks
•Experience implementing and enforcing 802.1X/802.11 standards on networks
•Experience working WPA Enterprise encryption standards
•Knowledge of and experience with the setup, maintenance and troubleshooting of firewall appliances and applications
•Knowledge of and experience with VPN concentrators
•Ability to integrate wired and wireless networks to other enterprise systems
•Experience working with Cisco analog and VoIP phone Gateways and servers
•Ability to use various tools to detect and resolve issues (SolarWinds, Nagios, and Cacti)
•Thorough knowledge of Cisco switches and routers
•Thorough knowledge of networking fundamentals including VLANs, subnets, protocols, and standards
•Thorough knowledge of and experience with Windows 10 and Server 2012+ operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS
•Knowledge of wireless Access Controllers. This includes the ability to create new wireless LANs, configure APs, and configure wireless security and authentication
•Experience with wireless access points and the ability to configure and deploy them
•Knowledge of and experience with IPS / IDS
•Experience with Palo Alto firewalls
•Experience with Cisco ASA/Firepower firewalls and VPN concentrators
•Experience with SolarWinds, Infoblox, Nagios, or Cacti
•Experience Capacity Planning with DCIM tools
•Experience managing equipment inventory
•Able to create network diagrams using Visio or other diagram tools and present how the network works
•Knowledge of and experience with implementing and managing a certificate authority for PKI
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
•Must be able to multitask in a dynamic environment; develop solutions to various complex problems and plan, schedule and prioritize tasks.
•Ability to lift and install equipment up to 30 pounds.
•Ability to walk long distances, stairs and hills to navigate the campus environment.
CompTIA Security+ or CCNA required, CCNP preferred
Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, and in some cases with little to no advance notice. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
