RFIC Design Engineer

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates and tests RFIC and MMIC circuits and subsystems at frequencies ranging from 0.1 to 200+ GHz. Work closely with scientists and engineers to develop state of the art RFIC and MMIC circuits, subsystems and systems for a variety of applications such as electronic warfare, communications, radar and imaging. Help lead and coordinate RFIC design projects. Additional job functions include solving customer problems, writing invention disclosures, publishing papers, briefing customers, participating in proposal activities and assisting in marketing HRL expertise.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Experience with high-frequency circuit, electro-magnetic and system simulators such as Cadence, ADS, AWR, VSS, Sonnet and HFSS for design of RF and analog integrated circuit based on III-V, CMOS and Bi-CMOS technologies, passives components, modules and subsystems. Multiple tapeouts with different CMOS and BiCMOS processes is a must.Experience with RF network analyzer measurement and testing of RFIC and module components are required.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Working knowledge of high frequency circuit/system simulators and CAD layout for different RFIC processes. A working familiarity with common passive and active microwave structures and network analysis techniques. Knowledge of module and subsystem operation/integration required. Familiarity with CMOS and BiCMOS foundry technologies and their layout practices is required. Understanding of device physics desired. Knowledge of large signal measurements and load pull is a plus.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, customers, operate complex electronic equipment, perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits, and prepare written and oral presentations. Ability to work well in a team and independently. Must be willing to travel and work in a team of highly skilled engineers on complex projects, and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
EDUCATION DESIRED: Ph.D., or M.S., in Electrical Engineering
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver’s license, special tools or restrictions): U.S. citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
