Hardware Design Engineer

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
-Work as team member in the Imaging Sensor Test and Integration group.
-Design, simulate, procure and verify custom image sensor electronics and printed circuit boards.
-Firmware development, implementation and verification using Xilinx family of FPGAs and FPGA evaluation kit platforms.
-Non-Technical duties require candidate to present details of work to colleagues during design reviews, create and manage work plans to meet or exceed schedule deadlines, and provide written and oral summaries of work performed as needed (e.g. for reports).
-At least 5 years of experience in schematic capture, PCB layout and design analysis of mixed signal system design with emphasis on high speed digital and low noise analog interfaces.
-Firmware development experience using Verilog, FPGA IP cores, C-code, and microblaze/Zynq microprocessor implementation.
-Experience using Xilinx FPGA devices, and development tools such as Vivado, SDK, HDL simulators.
-Good understanding of SerDes operation/programming, and physical layer transmission protocol.
-Proficient with interfaces such as SPI, UART, I2C, USB, and GTX/GTH transceivers.
-Experienced with troubleshooting of PCBs and related electronics such as ADCs, DACs and high speed interfaces using Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzers, and related lab equipment.
-AltiumDesigner for schematic capture and PCB layout. High Speed PCB design with respect to signal integrity methods for signals up to 10Gbps.
-Using signal and power domain network analysis tools to verify design performance.
-Familiarity with Xilinx FPGA evaluation platforms and interfaces.
-Good understanding of programming languages such as Verilog, System Verilog, C, C++, Python, and Matlab.
-Familiarity with theory and operation of wide variety of test equipment.
-Use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and proficiency in writing for reporting.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, complex electronic equipment, oral and written communication, interaction with vendors/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
-Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related scientific discipline.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (e.g. driver's license special tools or restrictions):
-U.S. citizenship is required.
-Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
