Come join HRL’s team of world-leading experts in silicon heterostructure quantum dots to help demonstrate and develop novel technologies. Learn about measuring and developing quantum dot devices as you provide rapid feedback to the fabrication team and work toward novel, publishable demonstrations.T he start and end time of this position is flexible, and not constrained to the summer.
Education Desired :
Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Essential Job Functions :
Conduct low-noise cryogenic measurements of semiconductor quantum devices. Assist in measurement system development, use cryogenic test systems, analyze data, and organize, update, and summarize measurement results. Requires frequent technical communication with team members, including oral and written reporting.
Experience and Knowledge Desired:
Desired experience includes development and use of automated data acquisition; the use of computer software for data storage, organization, and analysis; use of cryogenic test equipment; low-noise measurements; and basic electronic design and analysis. Knowledge of solid state and semiconductor physics, statistical analysis, and quantum information science are also a plus.
Essential Physical/Mental Requirements :
Ability to spend extended periods of time at a computer monitor. Excellent problem solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced heterogeneous team environment.Able to solve problems on your own and proactively identify the path forward.
