Engineer I - MEMS Sensor Electronics Development

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform on R&D projects in the development of MEMS-enabled sensor electronics for next generation aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications. Conduct design, simulation, layout, and characterization of MEMS-enabled electronic navigation systems. Design, fabricate and test mixed signal electronics for RF communication and inertial sensing applications. Collect, analyze and report on experimental data and provide test documentation and reports to team members. Work with and program microprocessors and/or FPGA systems and interface with sensors, and signal acquisition and feedback control. Must be able to work well in a creative team environment and possess excellent communication skills.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Desired experience includes computer-aided design, circuit simulation, and layout of PCBs, testing of electronic systems, programming of microcontrollers/FPGAs, experience debugging electronic systems, PCB assembly and rework, use of electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, signal generators, data acquisition and other equipment, experience with soldering and attachment of electronic components. Experience in prototyping and integrating interface electronics with MEMS is a plus. Micro/nano fabrication experience in a cleanroom environment is a plus. Experience in environmental testing of sensors and frequency control electronics under vacuum, shock and vibration, thermal cycling and accelerated life-test conditions is a big plus.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/C/C++ is required. Knowledge of general electronic systems and signal processing is desired. Knowledge of other programming languages (Java, Python, Labview, etc.) is a plus. Working knowledge of analog and digital controls and feedback electronics, automatic data acquisition, wire-bonding, packaging, and connection assemblies is desired. Understanding of oscillator sustaining circuits and interface electronics for inertial sensors is also desired. General familiarity with MEMS devices is a plus.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform safely in an electronics test facility and/or a MEMS microfabrication cleanroom.
