GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Data Analyst will participate in structuring and developing data sets to power timely, impactful business intelligence. Responsibilities will include gathering requirements from business stakeholders and BI analysts, analyzing and interpreting new sources of data, structuring reporting data sets to support current and future dashboards, testing data in both SQL and reporting tools, and acting as a liaison between Business Intelligence and other IT teams.

 

This position is ideal for someone with a few years of relevant experience structuring BI data and offers significant room to grow. Experience with mortgage servicing is a plus.

 

This individual will be a member of the Business Intelligence team. The Business Intelligence team analyzes and prepares the distribution of key business reporting data and works with management to ensure valuable information is being provided to relevant parties in a way that enables quick informed decisions.  Turning insights into action is the key to the success of this team.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Explore and analyze datasets, understand underlying data relationships, assess data quality & gaps, perform data transformations as needed
  • Capture business requirements for new data sets and sources data. Translate into technical needs
  • Perform data validation of large and complex data sets
  • Model & design new reporting data sets
  • Interface between business users and data engineering teams to efficiently meet the needs of all stakeholders
  • Utilize multiple products to offer solutions such as MS Excel, Tableau, and SQL
  • Assist in the development of a data catalog/data governance
  • Help to inspire a creative learning environment while fostering big ideas
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to advance cross-team projects
  • Serve as a consultant to teams across the organization, providing best practices, data interpretations, and training on created business solutions
  • Identify potential risks within our data warehouse and reporting, across business areas
  • Make recommendations for improvements to current processes

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred with a quantitative or technical focus
  • 2-5 years of business analysis, business intelligence, or data engineering experience; preferably within the mortgage banking industry
  • Experience with mortgage servicing data is a plus
  • Experience data modeling for data warehousing & reporting
  • Experience capturing business requirements and translating into technical needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven strong critical thinking skills, a track record of innovative thought and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and SQL development
  • Working understanding of relational databases, business intelligence tools, forecasting and/or statistical models is a plus
  • Experience with data cataloging/data governance is a plus
