POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Manager, E-Commerce will be responsible for the overall operations of the E-Commerce department, to include daily staff supervision, monitoring business transactions, and resolving both associate and customer problems and concerns. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the overall operation of E-Commerce, under consultation and direction from the General Manager, including:

    1. Daily supervision of all E-Commerce associates,

    2. Develops and maintains written process and procedures for E-Commerce department to ensure the department runs efficiently and productively.

  2. Performs daily administrative functions of E-Commerce operations, including:

    1. Ensuring refunds are processed on PayPal on a timely basis and working with the finance department to monitor revenue and ensure that it is reconciled with actual purchases.

    2. Ordering supplies.

    3. Ensuring that existing inventory matches online markets, with no more than a 3% margin of error.

  1. Quota management, including ensuring that daily posting quotas are met, and increasing quotas as necessary to meet the demands of the marketplace.

  2. Partnering with the transportation department and regional managers to ensure that E-Commerce has a sufficient flow if incoming books.

  3. Assumes responsibility for all aspects of E-Commerce department in the absence of the General Manager.

  4. Monitors customer service operations on a daily basis and independently settles customer complaints that are escalated to manager level.

  5. Makes recommendations: to determine the need for personnel, hiring, disciplining, coaching, terminating, and training of new employees.

  6. Prepares, reviews, develops and maintains reports, including, but not limited to, daily sales reports, daily posting reports, salability reports, and customer service reports, and use the data in these reports to make informed decisions about the business.

  7. Provides exceptional customer service to online customers, including ensuring that all customer inquiries are responded to within 24 hours or the next business day, and keeping the metrics on our online markets within acceptable limits.

  8. Fulfills the duties of all E-Commerce personnel (if needed) to include sorting merchandise, listing items online, order fulfillment, customer service, maintaining accurate and profitable inventory, and performing department upkeep duties.

  9. *Position typically includes lifting items up to 40 pounds, pushing and pulling items, and prolonged standing or walking. Some reaching required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has supervisory responsibility for E-Commerce employees including E-Commerce associates and supervisors.

 

Required Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma plus at least one year of online sales experience, including demonstrated success at selling and maintaining positive feedback on online markets such as eBay and Amazon.

  2. One year of experience working with and designing Excel spreadsheets, including establishing formulas.

  3. Microsoft Office experience required.

  4. Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.

  5. Ability to perform basic math calculations.

  6. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

  7. Excellent customer service skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
