Business Trends Reporter
York Daily Record
As our community rebuilds from the pandemic, the York Daily Record is looking for a reporter to cover the struggles, the innovation, the successes, and the failures that will define this moment in time. This is a business beat for a new generation, focusing on workers and local business owners and the impact of non-locally based companies on the quality of life here in central Pennsylvania. This reporter will work with our 13 partner newsrooms across Pennsylvania and more than 200 USA Today NETWORK newsrooms across the nation. First and foremost, we will focus on our local communities. Beyond that, we work with some of the best journalists in the business to improve our craft and share our stories with a national audience. If you are committed to the future of local journalism, if you agree that loyal readership is earned with smart, insightful, unique coverage, and if you are ready to turn around deep dives and quick hits, let's talk about your vision for your career and our industry.
The right candidate will have a demonstrated ability to turn news around quickly when needed, producing photos and video, and also pursue stories through watchdog and enterprise journalism. We are looking for someone with a passion for reporting and breaking stories of consequence. And we are looking for someone who can tell great stories and write clearly.
· A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
· A proven track record of breaking news and watchdog work.
· A demonstrated ability to continue to learn and develop skills.
· This role requires a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role. When you apply, don’t limit your upload to a resume; show us what you’ve done. To do so, put together a single document file that includes the following, in this order:
• Your updated resume, plus a cover letter that outlines why you are a fit and how you would approach the job
• Links to 3-6 online samples of your work. Show us what you’ve written, produced, or had a hand in that best reflects what you can do in your desired role.
