Content Producer
The Content Producer position exists to create, develop, and execute web content, social media, and special projects for Focus on the Family. This position exists to assist the Manager and team with key written and video communications across a wide array of media channels for Focus on the Family.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Conceives, researches, writes, optimizes, and posts articles, social media posts and other pieces for traditional and new media
Content planning:
- Researches and stays abreast of current trends in the family
- Interviews internal and external experts on family issues
- Researches keywords, trending topics and competition for search engine optimization (SEO)
- Researches authors and acquires content
Publishing:
- Writes short copy frequently and longer articles routinely
- Edits and proofreads copy written by outside authors and other team members
- Records and edits brief videos for online use
- Posts articles to FocusOnTheFamily.com
- Finds or creates items to supplement written and video content:
- Images
- Infographics
- Quotes
- Links
- Discussion, poll, and survey questions
- Assists with maintenance of landing pages
Promoting content:
- Creates and posts social media posts
- Writes emails and e-newsletters
- Optimizes articles for search engine visibility
- Wins backlinks
- Develops calls-to-action
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Participates in team meetings to identify relevant and timely communications topics
Researches and writes other communication pieces on behalf of the Family team
Documents research
Maintains files to document information and quotes used in new content
Fact checks content
Analyzes successes and failures of content, evaluating trends
Seeks training to build new skills
Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., printed pieces, photography, video, music, etc.) for distribution in all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, DVD and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which will be for the benefit of Focus on the Family
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
Office environment
May be required to travel 10-15% of the year

Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or Journalism (or related field)
General content management system (CMS) experience required; knowledgeable in website content best practices and content management frameworks; WordPress and SiteCore proficiency preferred
3-5 years of writing and editing experience to include content management, project management of content editing or similar functions
Working knowledge of Focus on the Family’s mission, values, and objectives
Computer proficiency in a variety of Microsoft Office Tools (required: Word, Excel, Adobe, and PowerPoint)
Experience with an image management system (Canva, etc.) or equivalent preferred
Familiar with AP style
Familiar with multiple social media platforms
Basic HTML knowledge beneficial

Salary Range: $49,440 to $58,401/yr.
