Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for primary communications with new or prospective supplier for conveying specifications determined by Excel's engineering and other internal departments. Evaluate the capabilities of existing and proposed new supplier in conjunction with key business stakeholders as it relates to prospective new or updating of Excel's produced customer products.

Essential Duties:

· Lead for Early Supplier Involvement projects by engaging engineering with Excel’s key suppliers (Approx. 25%)

· Sends out RFP and RFQ packages for all new products and procures prototype parts to support engineering design efforts. (Approx. 20%)

· Creates and ensure timely delivery of first article purchase orders. (Approx. 5%)

· Evaluates suppliers from an overall value perspective and negotiates prices where applicable. (Approx. 5%)

· Support engineering with prototype parts and required supplier assistance (Approx. 20%)

· Drive cost reduction efforts through sourcing efforts and VA/VE support (Approx. 10%)

· Leads new product transitions into production per project schedule (Approximately 15%)

NOTE: These duties are subject to change as business needs and strategies evolve. Employee may be required to perform other duties of comparable complexity.

Education:

· Associate degree or higher or 5 year procurement experience required

· ISM or APICS Certification Preferred

· Wind chill and QAD software knowledge preferred

Experience:

· Two Years of purchasing experience

Required Skills:

· Ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment

· Verbal and written communication skills

· Computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook)

· Engineering print reading experience preferred

· Negotiation skills

· ERP/MRP System understandings

· Strong attention to detail
