CU Medicine is dedicated to providing healthcare and administrative support to the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine’s nearly 3,000 providers. We are seeking a highly motivated Administrative Assistant to support the Surgical Pathology Department.

The Administrative Assistant will perform a broad range of administrative duties and ensure maintenance of front office functions. The individual in this position will greet visitors, answer phones, screen calls, take messages when necessary and handle every call in a professional and confidential manner. Accession outside slides and enter all slides to the applicable database as well as type the description, label, and scan necessary paperwork. Print patient reports and organize pathology slides to prepare for weekly and monthly conferences.  Send out pathology material to requesting outside institutions and consultation request by faculty. Act as a liaison with other departments, retrieve medical records and other medical information.  Adhere to HIPAA guidelines at all times while handling sensitive information.  Serve as back-up for other assistants and office staff as needed and perform duties as assigned.


Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years front desk or administrative support experience; prior experience in a healthcare environment is highly preferred.  Strong PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.  Must be familiar with general office equipment (i.e. fax, copier, shredder, scanner, telephone, etc.). Experience with patient privacy protection requirements (HIPAA) is highly desired.  Must be personable, friendly and work well under pressure.  The ability to multi-task and work well with others on the team is essential.  High level organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with contacts at all levels are necessary to successfully execute daily responsibilities.
