Position Summary


The Senior Web Development Manager will act as a lead front-end developer for all core Credit One Bank websites and provide full-stack development services for an array of auxiliary sites. The role will collaborate on User Interface Design & Engineering (UI), User Experience Design (UX), and Interaction Design (IxD). The role will also interact with other team members in the crafting and creation of mockups and prototypes; manage relationships with technology vendors; control and maintain secure website development and staging environments; assure cross-browser and device compatibility; participate in Quality Assurance (QA), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and post-deployment regression testing; and be tasked with maintaining centralized source code repositories, team workflows, and version control systems.


Summary of Essential Job Functions


  • Deliver streamlined and optimized code for customer experiences which serve millions of credit card members online
  • Advise a diversified team of front-end developers and full-stack engineers, delving into the minutiae of the underlying code on a continual basis
  • Meticulously oversee the management of centralized code repositories, team workflows, and version control systems
  • Collaborate on User Experience Design (UX) strategy for prototyping and pilot efforts, including translating business requirements into elegantly coded solutions
  • Conceptualize new site structures and hierarchies, create navigational models and flows, and develop interactive solutions for device-agnostic websites
  • Maintain and adjust information architecture process flow schematics (site mapping, flow charting, and diagramming) for both development and production environments
  • Continual development and on-going site design and functional optimization
  • Assure intuitive navigation and consistency throughout the card member experience
  • Meet regulatory requirements pertaining to content and design parameters, including Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for accessible design
  • Interface with external vendors (e.g. web development and digital advertising agencies), intra-departmental staff, and IT project managers and developers. These duties will include working with external / internal designers and technologists to ensure that the user interfaces reflect the design and technology requirements and functionality as set forth by the business
  • Work with and maintain relationships with mission-critical external technology vendors (e.g. web hosting platform, server management, website uptime, performance and functionality monitoring firms)
  • Manage on-call scheduling for situations requiring emergency systems maintenance and/or incident management response
  • The ability to communicate clearly within the core Interactive/Digital Experience Marketing team as well as other teams throughout the company
  • Provide succinct project status updates to upper-management and associated stakeholders
  • Remain informed and up-to-date regarding new and emerging developments in technology, and comfortable proposing solutions based upon these technologies, including educating and informing non-technical team members
  • Promote, prototype and develop concepts for future initiatives within digital environments
  • Effectively lead peer code review sessions, methodically examining code for defects and improvement opportunities
  • Manage regularly scheduled website and database backups
  • Serve various members of a project team by analyzing and appropriately scoping project scale, while meticulously authoring documentation which shall serve as the blueprint for strategic site structure and provide a roadmap for content development and quality assurance
  • Support individual business unit requests for additional website processes, features and functionality
  • Manage coding and validation of email templates optimized for desktop and mobile email clients
  • Understand and effectively communicate site features and limitations with regard to design and development decisions on new projects
  • Participate in pre-deployment Quality Assurance (QA) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and post-deployment regression testing
  • Index and organize documents and files for project requests and tracking, retention, asset management, and change control management


Position Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Expert working knowledge of today’s modern web development toolbox, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript & React
  • Strong knowledge of desktop and mobile operating systems, as well as the latest iterations of all modern browsers
  • Expertise with implementing Responsive/Adaptive web designs and the on-going resolution of cross-browser / device issues
  • Strong familiarity with all mobile browsers on iOS and Android as well as Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox for the desktop
  • Proficient in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products, including Photoshop, Illustrator and XD
  • Proficient with design tools such as Figma and Sketch
  • Familiarity with VS Code, Sublime Text, Atom, Brackets and/or PHPStorm
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint
  • Experience with ZURB Foundation and/or React-Bootstrap
  • Creative and organizational vision, strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of web technologies and demonstrable past experience architecting componentized and scalable front-end platforms
  • Experience with wireframing, user flows, and rapid prototyping, utilizing tools such as Balsamiq Mockups, InVision, and/or Framer
  • Experience with Content Management System (CMS) implementations, from mundane WordPress or Ghost sites to intricate enterprise-level installations (e.g. Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Sitecore, Episerver, Oracle WebCenter Content, etc.)
  • Demonstrated people and project management skills. Must be able to function as a project leader as well as an individual contributor
  • Excellent communication skills and writing proficiency, including the ability to discuss projects with colleagues who have little knowledge of digital production and tools
  • Experience in integrating web APIs
  • Knowledge and experience with SCSS compilers, Gulp tasks and modern web workflow tools
  • Experience with distributed version control systems (the Atlassian stack in particular: SourceTree and Bitbucket, and Git repositories in general)
