Corporate & Foundation Engagement Associate

The Corporate & Foundation Engagement Associate is a vital member of SightLife’s Mission Advancement Team, reporting to the Director, Corporate and Foundation Engagement and supporting the broader fundraising team. This position is responsible for accelerating the mission of SightLife by securing grants and gifts from institutional and corporate funders who are dedicated to supporting global health organizations.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sustain and expand support for SightLife programs by overseeing execution of grants and gifts portfolio, including research and prospecting, proposal project management and writing, reporting, and other stewardship activities.
  • Initiate ongoing communication with key SightLife staff to analyze funding needs, gaps in support, and engagement opportunities.
  • Research, identify, and qualify funding opportunities from corporate, foundation, and government sources.
  • Manage efficient operational system to ensure accurate records and timely communication with funders. Oversee grants calendar and maintain up-to-date database records for all institutional and corporate donors
  • Collect narratives and synthesize data about SightLife programs to make strongest case for support.
  • Develop a deep understanding of SightLife program strategy and metrics to ensure integrity and quality of proposal writing.
  • Serve as technical writer for SightLife U.S. and International Programs by integrating strategy, monitoring and evaluation data, and qualitative information into all proposals.
  • Project manage proposal generation process including coordinating with key staff to produce and submit compelling proposals that have the potential to obtain significant support for US-based and international programs.
  • Develop quality, sophisticated presentations in PowerPoint and other design platforms for prospective funders.

General

  • Support administration of Corporate & Foundation Engagement program in daily activities that could include CRM database management, contributing to executive briefing materials, producing internal and external communications, assisting in marketing collateral development, supporting event planning, and providing service and responsiveness to Programs and Finance partners.
  • Maintain strict donor and prospect confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in grant writing and fundraising with successful track record for securing significant multi-year commitments from institutional and/or corporate donors.
  • Superior knowledge of and proven experience writing proposals to large corporate, foundation and/or government donors, as well as an understanding of technical and financial requirements for large grants.
  • Demonstrated superior writing, research, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Experience crafting Letters of Intent/Memorandums of Understanding, concept papers, proposals, and stewardship materials with aptitude for creating budgets, and drafting compelling case statements.
  • Ability to successfully execute multiple, simultaneous projects on time with quality results.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, demonstrating positive collaboration and respect for colleagues at all levels within the organization. Ability to work with ease across global regions and time zones.
  • Comfort in expressing intellectual curiosity, ability to learn quickly and to be nimble in challenging circumstances, ease and consistency in asking thoughtful questions when uncertain of direction, and ability to synthesize information and make recommendations for a next step.
  • Experience tracking communication and donor activity in a (CRM), preferably Salesforce, Razors Edge, or Advance.
  • Proficient in full Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

  • BA/BS from accredited four-year degree college or equivalent professional experience.
  • Advanced degree in communications, writing, literature, public administration, or similar.
  • Project management software experience/certification such as Trello, Microsoft Teams or Project, Basecamp.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit and/or global health organization.
  • Understanding of not-for-profit accounting.
