Manufacturing Engineer – Automation Facilitator (Silverline – Marion OH Facility)
Purpose/goals
Responsible for developing, implementing and documenting manufacturing process improvements with a particular emphasis on Automation and Robotics.
Implements new processes and technologies to accommodate new product introductions, product enhancements, increase capacity, improve safety and efficiency, and reduce costs.
Responsible and accountable to ensure that all assigned project resource personnel coordinate their activities with other project participants and key stakeholders to ensure that the project requirements are successfully satisfied.
Identifies manufacturing, product design, and equipment deficiencies. Works to get them addressed and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
Aligns manufacturing processes to Demand Flow Technology (DFT) concepts and ideals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops project plans establishing project goals, required resources, budgets, and timelines.
Manages capital projects: Includes the writing of Capital Appropriation Requests, obtaining vendor quotations, closing out completed projects, managing cash flow, and insuring adherence to budgets.
Coordinates with the plant teams on project work and process concerns.
Requires extensive regular contact with key project stakeholders.
Reports out to the Performance Engineer Manager.
Accountable for the successful completion and performance of assigned projects.
Develops all necessary process documentation (i.e. FMEAs Control Plans, capability studies, flow analysis, etc.)
Implements equipment designs and enhancements to improve safety, quality, productivity, and capacity.
Using management skills, establish relationships with vendors to keep equipment updated and current with latest technology and improvements.
Develop process and project documentation to include capability studies, project charts, CAD, equipment layouts, Pareto analysis, cost reduction studies, and others as assigned or appropriate.
Reviews product and equipment designs to ensure the safety of the associates and the quality of the process.
Work to assure compliance with governmental rules, codes, standards, regulations, and with industry standards. (i.e. OSHA, EPA, RCRA, UST’s, CERCLA, SARA, DOT, and other as applicable).
Use root cause analysis techniques to lead focused problem solving efforts for implementing safety, quality, and productivity improvements
Coordinates with the plant maintenance team on maintenance/equipment issues; maintenance records; coordinating repairs; purchases of major equipment.
Troubleshoots and resolves complex equipment and process issues, diagnosing technical problems and identifying short, and long-term solutions.
Assesses existing processes for areas of improvement utilizing Pareto analysis, designed experiments techniques, capability studies, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical degree of equivalent education.
Experience
Four or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering with a solid demonstrated record of achievement in Automation/Robotics, improving manufacturing operations through appropriate Automation and use of Lean principles.
Strong Electrical and Machine Controls experience are a must.
AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Project, Excel, Word, & Power Point).
Demonstrated experience in project management. PMP training or certification would be a plus.
Equipment specification, evaluation, and installation experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. AutoCAD preferred.
Other
Position requires occasional travel as needed (5-10% is typical).
