Umyuaq Technology is looking for a qualified System Engineer to join our team at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida. The successful candidate will join a team of diverse disciplines supporting rebuild efforts following the 2018 Hurricane Michael devastation.

Job Purpose Or Summary

The Systems Engineering support contractor shall evaluate, design, install, configure, isolate, troubleshoot, and maintain operating systems, workstations platforms, server platforms, and server products. The Contractor shall monitor, update, maintain, and support software baselines products for servers and workstations. The Contractor shall troubleshoot, isolate, integrate, and correct any problems and anomalies encountered in the installation and subsequent use of the products.

  • Maintain operational availability and document all installations and changes to the development networks IAW policies and procedures in place in the work center.

  • Theater Network Architect will be responsible for the design, implementation, and integration of communication networks in support of the CONUS NORAD Region and AFNORTH mission sets. Including creating/maintaining/modifying network components, creating security policies to address vulnerabilities within the enterprise, reviewing architecture modification proposals, developing theater network solutions to ensure and robust reliability, and providing current and target documentation topology diagrams.

  • Scope of responsibility includes networks within Tyndall AFB to include CONR/AFNORTH missions systems that use base transport to extended networks to the Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS), the Western Air Defense Sector (WADS), the Joint Air Defense Operations Center (JADOC), and AFNORTH Detachments 1 and 2 in Winnipeg and North Bay Canada, respectively.

  • Update software, validating licenses, and proper labeling and update of electronic software libraries and physical software media following current Government guidance. Government is responsible for software management of licenses.

  • Provide knowledge and guidance on Windows and Solaris/UNIX 7 operating systems to the 690 ISS Government technicians.

  • Develop all hardware and software technical solutions, implementation plans for acquisition requirements via the Work Order Management System (WOMS) within the Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning System (CIPS). The Contractor shall review and develop IT technical solutions and implementation plans that cover the deployment of a wide range of systems devices such as servers, software, network infrastructure, and operating systems.

  • Evaluate vendor updates and patches as they come available and communicate that information into "Release or Advisory Notice" to 690 ISS/SCX - Change Management section for processing. Individual "Release or Advisory Notices" shall be documented and stored on the network shares with a Remedy ticket generated to its reference. The Contractor shall analyze vendor released and DoD software patches to ensure full compatibility with operational systems. The Contractor shall analyze existing and emerging server and network technology to ensure the network stays on the leading edge of development.

  • Maintain a Storage Area Network (SAN).

  • Review and develop IT technical solutions and implementation plans that cover the deployment of a wide range of system devices such as servers, software, network infrastructure, and operating systems.

  • Assist with the continual development and evolution of the network Change Approval Board (CAB) process and ensure that proper coordination is obtained before any hardware, software, or patch deployment on the production network.

  • Develop project drawings using Visio drawing software as required by the project.

  • Track all assigned work and workflow in Government approved software.

  • Provide "on-the-job" training on how to perform functions in section 3.6 to Government personnel.

 

 

Education, Training & Certification

  • The Contractor shall have a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology disciplines. Minimum of 2 years' experience.
  • Possess a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional.
  • Cisco Certified Design Professional is preferred.

 

Applicants selected for this position must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance or access.
