Casbah is one of Pittsburgh's top dining destinations, featuring a daily changing menu focused on Mediterranean-inspired cuisine made from local ingredients. From the year-round garden patio to the dining room, from the cozy bar to the wine cellar, each visit can feel like a new and special experience.
Pastry Cooks are responsible for the production of all dessert components and mignardises, as well as, the plating of desserts during service. Pastry Cooks also slice bread and make espresso-based coffee beverages during service and complete cleaning tasks at the end of the shift.

The ideal candidate:
Has 1-3 years of relevant experience with at least six months working in a restaurant kitchen in a role involving accurately executing recipes under the direction of a chef or kitchen manager.
Has excellent attention to detail and passion for food and pastry work.
Communicates clearly and effectively with others.
Can accurately follow a written recipe.
Has basic knife skills for chopping, slicing, dicing, etc.
Can perform basic kitchen math such as converting between gallons, quarts, cups, and tablespoons; scaling a recipe up or down (i.e. double or cut in half)
Can reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
Is self-motivated and capable of staying on-task while working independently.
Can work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours).
Has experience in a fine dining atmosphere
Has knowledge of pastry techniques, chocolate work, and bread baking
