MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBLE TO: Production Superintendent FUNCTION: Responsible for directing the production activities in the government production department, including the efficient use of both manpower and equipment. Responsible for floor layout, the cross training of personnel, quality and specification adherence, production scheduling, and job set up. Works closely with support programs, quality assurance, and maintenance, assuring on time delivery of product. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work independently with regards to shipping deadlines and production quotas. Excellent technical knowledge and skill in machinery set up, repair and preventative maintenance; working knowledge of contract and product specifications; working knowledge of statistical process control of ISO 9001; ability to read blueprints and work from product drawings or sketches from customer(s); excellent recordkeeping with regards to inventory and production control; ability to manage multiple ongoing projects over multiple shifts, including a willingness and ability to work non-traditional hours as needed or assigned to meet production deadlines. Ability to supervise a workforce composed of disabled and non-disabled adults. Physical condition or reasonable accommodation(s) commensurate with the demands of the job. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED plus two (2) years responsible leadership experience. Supervisory experience and experience in an industrial sewing environment strongly preferred. Note: An Associate’s Degree in Business or a technical field may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, as cited above. DUTIES: 1. Trains, supervises and monitors assigned group of production workers within the production department, that includes both disabled and non-disabled personnel. Supervision including but not limited to: a. Supervising all activities of assigned workers during workshop hours, including break and meal periods b. Evaluating and recommending the movement of production workers within pay grades. c. Recommending hiring and/or termination of assigned personnel d. Handling of routine day-to-day personnel issues that arise e. Training of all assigned workers 2. Communicates with case managers to report client progress and/or problems regarding production capabilities and behaviors. Implements and monitors client behavioral modification plans when needed and participates in regular client reviews. 3. Responsible for production planning process to determine staffing, equipment and material needs to meet specific production and shipment commitments. 4. May be called upon to troubleshoot equipment. Makes recommendations on modification or replacement of production equipment and/or recommends acquisition of new equipment. 5. Works with manufacturing management system for inventory and shop floor control. 6. Responsible for production scheduling and adherence in a multiple shift, multiple project environment. 7. Works with inventory control to assure accurate records and control of all inventory materials. Assists with physical inventories within department. 8. Performs all other related duties as needed or assigned.
