Hailed as “cultural ambassador to the world” by the U.S. Congress, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is renowned for its stellar performances, high-caliber dance training, and innovative educational initiatives which reach nearly 500,000 people around the globe each year.

We are seeking a full-time Front Desk Operations Manager for the Ailey Extension. The Ailey Extension offers 100 dance and fitness classes, special workshops, and kids and teens Sunday Dance Series to dancers of all levels, from absolute beginners to professionals. Classes are offered seven days a week in the morning, afternoon, and evening in over 28 different techniques. With a team of volunteers and part time staff, the Front Desk Operations Manager is responsible for management of sales team, including recruiting, interviewing and training volunteer staff; supervising part time employees, Closers and Extension Managers; managing data for clients, teachers, and musicians; providing great customer service; and the ability to multitask with detailed accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned as appropriate):

  • Recruit, train, supervise and coach volunteer Work-Exchange program
  • Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures and standards of volunteer service
  • Manage all part time staff and volunteers to support the various areas of Extension operations
  • Evaluate all aspects of the volunteer programs to ensure effectiveness and implement appropriate changes as needed
  • Provide customer service to solve customer issues in a timely manner
  • Assist with assigning classes to Ailey staff and guest
  • Conduct monthly meetings with staff and Ailey Extension Director

The ideal candidate is detailed-oriented, well-organized and possesses strong communication and problem-solving skills handling a variety of customer service experiences. Provide excellent mentoring, coaching and overall solid people management skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and knowledge of MindBody software is a plus. Candidate must have prior experience working in a customer service environment with a minimum of three years supervisory and managerial experience.

While the regular work hours are 10am-6pm Monday to Friday, the Front Desk Operations Manager will be required to work occasional weeknights and/or on weekends as needed.

Compensation: Competitive salary with full benefits

Education: Bachelor of Business Administration and/or equivalent supervisory and/or managerial experience.
