SUMMARY
An IT Architect designs and supervises the construction of technology-based solutions. IT Architects provide technical leadership across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level. Additionally, this individual will gain organizational commitment for all systems and software plans, as well as evaluate and select technologies required to complete those plans. Advanced levels (II and III) act as primary advocates for assigned technology solutions and products.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Planning
Document existing corporate technology portfolio and architecture.
Develop, maintain, and enforce architectural standards for corporate technology.
Conduct research on emerging technologies.
Perform cost-benefit analysis and return on investment for technology options.
Recommend opportunities to use selected technologies.
Develop strategic and tactical plans for managing, maintaining, and introducing technology in alignment with corporate strategic plans.
Execution and Service Delivery
Translate functional requirements and design into technical requirements and design.
Lead architectural design activity for technology projects following standard portfolio management, project management, and software development methodologies. Create design models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide documentation and direction for all necessary staff resources.
Conduct architectural design reviews for new and existing corporate technology.
Provide architectural expertise, direction and assistance wherever necessary.
Ensure all technology designs are in compliance with corporate security standards.
Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house technology.
Provide guidance, instruction, and mentoring to junior staff members.
Communication and Collaboration
Collaborate with all necessary leadership and staff members in the planning, design, development, deployment, and maintenance of new and existing technology solutions.
Gain commitment on decisions through collaboration and persuasion; be able to inspire enthusiasm and commitment in others at all levels of the organization.
Communicate effectively by displaying strong verbal and written skills. Listen for understanding.
Exhibit the ability to translate complex technical topics into understandable business language in order to explain and justify technical needs and solutions to non-technical audiences.
Provide subject matter expertise and direction as necessary for operational support and training personnel for modified and new systems.

TECHNOLOGY SKILL BASE
This position requires a working knowledge of computer technology that includes: Intermediate Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Also, individuals must possess the ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications as introduced by the Client and Alta Resources. Working technical knowledge of programming languages.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to eight hours, and stand. Manual dexterity which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required, as is the ability to talk, and hear The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
