SUMMARY

The HR Intern serves as a key administrative position within Human Resources.  This position averages 20 to 40 hours per week between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with scheduling flexibility during the summer and school breaks.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Tasks performed will include but are not limited to overall department support, research/fact finding, proof reading, community events, and other special projects


Assists with administration activities including reviewing and updating documents


Assists with projects and daily operations of the Human Resources team, contributing as needed and supporting smooth and efficient workflow


Provides research support (online, library, phone-based) for planning, presentations, proposals, legal and other needs


Provides organization assistance for electronic and hard-copy materials


Assists with internal, community and other external major events


Performs administrative activities including sending correspondence, filing, completing reports, updating forms, and updating records


Assists leaders with data analysis and preparation


Assists leaders with process improvement projects


Helps prepare appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for teams


Maintains confidentiality of all information handled

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 

High school diploma or equivalent degree (HSED, GED); must be a four year college or university student majoring in a business- related function, preferably Human Resources.


TECHNOLOGY SKILL BASE

This position requires a working knowledge of computer technology that includes Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Individuals must possess the ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications as introduced by the Client and Alta Resources.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to eight hours, and stand. Manual dexterity which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required, as is the ability to talk, and hear.   The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
