I. Job Summary:
Responsible for installation and repair of Fixed Wireless broadband Internet and related services to residential and commercial locations. Provides superior customer service and workmanship during the installation and repair process. Supports system troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs from the customer premises to the cell site. Will be included in Shentel on-call schedule and expected to work weekends. Daily contact with customer concerning installation of equipment and service problems. Working conditions include regularly working in elevated work environments (e.g., ladders, rooftops, etc.), regularly driving company vehicles over 75 miles daily, and periodically working in attics and crawl spaces with temperature fluctuations.
II. Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Installs and repairs Fixed Wireless broadband Internet service and related services inclusive of all cabling and hardware (e.g., antennas, mounts, WIFI routers, etc.).
b. Programs and configures customer premise equipment and educates customers on use.
c. Effectively works with other Shentel departments (e.g., Dispatch, Customer Care, NOC, etc.) to communicate status of orders while providing outstanding customer service.
d. Supports system maintenance and troubleshooting.
e. Operates and maintains climbing devices, ladders, hand tools, power tools, vehicles, test equipment, laptop computers, and mobile phone.
f. Observes all company safety procedures at all times.
g. Demonstrates and holds employees accountable for stewardship of the brand to include embodiment of the Shentel Way by ensuring appropriate use of the brand (name, logo, company, appearance, and attitude) within their respective team and organization.
h. Responsible for following Shentel employee technical training program.
i. Responsible for following, supporting, and enforcing all internal control processes and procedures (e.g., Inventory, etc.).
III. Qualification Requirements:
a. Education: High school diploma, vocational-technical school diploma or equivalent required.
b. Experience: 5 years of experience with residential or commercial installation and maintenance preferred.
c. Valid driver’s license (with no exceptions) required.
d. Ability to effectively read and comprehend written materials and electronic communications.
e. Ability to use computers inclusive of basic software applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, web browsing, etc.) and other electronic support devices.
f. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers and co-workers in both face-to-face and remote situations.
g. Ability to lift 75 pounds and transport 200 feet.
h. Ability to effectively work in elevated and underground work environments while using power tools.
IV. Knowledge of:
a. Basic telecommunications concepts such as wireless, WIFI, CATV, fiber optic, coaxial transport systems, electricity.
b. Basic troubleshooting skills (e.g., CATV systems, computers, computer networking, telephone, etc.).
