POSITION SUMMARY

 

As an essential part of a team, is responsible for ensuring exceptional and enthusiastic guest service by the Pool Attendants, while maintaining a clean and safe guest/work environment.  As Assistant Pool Manager, he or she must use good judgment and initiate authority in a respectful manner, when assisting the guests and staff with requests and/or issues.  He/she must also be knowledgeable of the facility and property, the surrounding area and all aspects of the Pool, in relation to other departments of the hotel.

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES

 

  1. Adhere to Halekulani Health & Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment
  2. Oversee and ensure a successful Pool operation
  3. Maintain a safe, clean, and relaxing environment for the guests and children, through attentive supervision
  4. Keep abreast of county, state and federal laws, regulations and statures as applicable to public swimming pool operations
  5. Introduce innovated systems, products and practices to enhance the guest’s poolside experience
  6. Establish and update Standard Operating Procedures
  7. Maintain good relations with fellow managers and outside vendors
  8. Support the poolside Food & Beverage operation
  9. Support the Surf program and operation
  10. Foster positive employee relations with proper communication and coaching of all team members
  11. Handle employee related issues with proper follow up and prompt responses
  12. Share knowledge of all property, facility and hotel, especially Pool features/services, and hours of operation
  13. Share knowledge of the hotel and Pool policies and procedures
  14. Ensure that guests are provided with poolside/ beach towel services
  15. Ensure that guests are provided with passed amenities throughout the day
  16. Provide a safe swimming environment for both children and adults through attentive supervision
  17. Provide maintenance for the care and cleaning of Pool equipment, furniture and Pool deck
  18. Enforces the hotel standards to exceed guests’ service expectations
  19. Takes responsibility for guest inquiries/problems; Able to problem-solve in a timely manner
  20. Train staff in Pool policies and procedures
  21. Develop, recognize the need to review and update existing procedures
  22. Conduct daily briefing with staff to keep them informed of the Pool and hotel operations
  23. Conduct regular inventory control of equipment, furniture and linen
  24. Conduct regular safety inspections
  25. Comply with the SDS regulations as related to the department
  26. In depth knowledge and understanding of Pool maintenance (for safety, health, cleanliness and aesthetics) chemicals used in Pool, and pump system
  27. Recognize and execute cost saving measures for the department
  28. Respond to emergency matters and efforts to preserve life/hotel property
  29. Report all incidents and injuries to the hotel’s Manager on Duty and Security, and ensure the staff does the same
  30. Complete payroll and weekly scheduling
  31. Conduct timely employee performance reviews
  32. Maintain a positive attitude with guests and co-workers
  33. Attend all mandatory meetings / training sessions
  34. Conducts monthly department meeting
  35. Performs all other duties as may be required or assigned

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

 

Reports To:         Director of Spa & Wellness

                               

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate
  • Any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position
  • 2 years of supervisory or management experience

 

 

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance
  • CPR, and First Aid certifications
  • Advanced Lifesaving, Lifeguard Training (required)

  • Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests
  • Command of verbal communication
  • Organizational skills
  • Strong swimmer
  • Ability to relate to people – superiors, peers, guests, vendors and employees

 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to bend, lift, push, pull, and carry
  • Must be able to transport a minimum of 75 lbs
